Originally discovered playing the back room chill out at one of the legendary Mansion Parties in Leeds, circa 1995... playing a quirky mix of abstract electronica, Pink Floyd, Indian raga's and dub...
It was because of that particular party that Ian was approached by Dream FM, the infamous Leeds based 'pirate' radio station and asked to present a show, as they had an opening for the type of chill out and downtempo music that Ian, was then, currently playlisting...the name Liquid Lounge was born.
The weekly show, originally on Thursday's developed such a following, that a second weekly show was added for late Sunday evening's, under the moniker of the 'Ambient Twins' alongside fellow ambient dj Mark Platts.
This turned out to be the perfect backdrop for chilling out to after a hard weekend of partying... pulling in a sizeable audience and gaining support and recognition from record companies, magazines and dj's alike...
Due to the regular shows on the radio, the 'Liquid Lounge' quickly gained a sizeable reputation for playing the perfect downtempo and chill out sets and became a resident for nights/events such as - Dream FM parties, Templehead, Dubterranean, Recovery, Party On..., Stimulations, 10 Bar, not forgetting the notorious Rawdon Hospital Parties, was also a regular guest at Sunday Service,(which has now evolved into Sub Dub), as well as guesting in countless chill outs for clubs, parties, warehouses, gatherings etc all over the north, a highlight of this era was dj'ing at the Big Chill Festival in 1996 near Diss, Norfolk
At this time the Liquid Lounge also recorded a weekly show for Frequency FM, a Northampton based 'pirate' radio station, presenting a very similar show to that on Dream FM...
Played and partied hard throughout all this time... and then became disillusioned by the whole scene...
Taking 'early retirement' in the new millennium, to concentrate on other projects...!!! As well as taking time to travel, to rest and recuperate and have time away from dj'ing... recharge the batteries, so to speak
Then, along with everyone else, discovered the digital age...
Having forgone the vinyl and opting instead for cd's and a laptop... and with it, discovering a whole new way to dj'ing... and a new eager audience for the musical styles played.
Now back to playing chilled and downtempo tracks with a dub influence, along with psybient, dub, electronica, ambient trance, psychill, dubtech and on occasion funky breaks and beats...
A regular guest at the Secret Chill events, Sunrise (Leeds) and with the Psychedelic Breakfast crew
Enough blah, blah, blah... it's about the music, so I hope you enjoy what you hear...
Combining old and new, all woven together in the Liquid Lounge style...
