The Weight of Chains 2 (Тежина ланаца 2, Težina lanaca 2) is the sequel of the popular and controversial documentary film directed by Boris Malagurski.

In this film, Malagurski will uncover the possible solutions to the crisis in the Balkans that includes indebted countries, impoverished communities and a loss of faith in a better life.

This feature-length documentary film will help the viewers to better understand the underlying causes as to why the people in the former Yugoslavia are still living in tough conditions and explain what the way forward could be.

It will critically analyze solutions provided by the Western world in the form of EU membership, intensified emigration, and neoliberal economic systems, while advocating individual action to find unique ways of improving the living standards.

Production of the film has started in March 2012 and will continue well into 2013, with a projected completion date towards the end of that year. The author, Boris Malagurski, will travel around the world to bring insightful commentaries by Balkan experts, as well as regular people in the republics of the former Yugoslavia.

Boris Malagurski, born in Yugoslavia in 1988, is a Serbian-Canadian film producer and director. His previous films include Kosovo: Can You Imagine? and The Weight of Chains, while his work was shown in theaters across Australia, Canada and the United States, as well as film festivals in London (Raindance), Belgrade (Beldocs), Havana, Toronto, Ann Arbor, East Sarajevo, and many others.

He is the recipient of the 2009 Silver Palm Award at the Mexico International Film Festival, the Best Film award at the BC Days Documentary Film Festival in Vancouver, the Young Authors of Europe award at the Palic International Film Festival and many other awards. Malagurski’s films were broadcasted in over 80 countries worldwide, most notably on the English-language news channel Russia Today (RT), Radio Television Serbia and many others.

The uniqueness of Malagurski’s work is that it’s publicly funded exclusively through donations, which, according to the author, “assures complete transparency of the work that I do, which is something I strictly adhere to.”
